QQI Updates

QQI has recently made some changes to two important processes...

 Programme Validation

 and

Blended and Fully Online Learning Provider Approval.

All providers are expected to validate one or more programmes within a year of reengagement.

In March 2024 QQI issued a "Reminder to all providers that have completed the reengagement process that it is expected that you will use your approved procedures to develop a programme and submit it for validation within a year of reengagement date".

QQI also stated... "You should take any one of your existing programmes and rewrite it so that it is fit for purpose in 2024 and beyond rather than as it was when originally validated by FETAC.  These should be considered new validations and not as revalidation".

It is also worth noting that the Programme Validation process that you may have been familiar with, prior to reengagement, has been significantly revised. New forms and new processes now apply.

Providers to apply for approval by end of 2024 using the new QQI Evaluation Process for Blended and Fully Online Learning.

In February 2024 QQI advised that the Board has approved a final extension of approval for providers to use Blended and Fully Online delivery modes to the end of June 2025.

(This was a temporary approval occasioned by the COVID pandemic)

QQI has issued new Guidelines For Providers of Blended and Fully Online Programmes.

QQI has also advised that the QQI Programmes and Awards Executive Committee (PAEC) are in the process of approving the new evaluation process which includes ...."A transition period, to end of 2024,  to be available to providers to incorporate the new guidelines into their QA procedures, conduct self-evaluation, bring through their own academic governance and apply to QQI for approval of the updated QA.
